Delilah
Delilah (Hebrew דְּלִילָה Dəlīlāh, meaning “delicate”, Arabic Dalilah; Greek Δαλιδά Dalidá) is a woman mentioned in chapter 16 of the Book of Judges in the Bible. She is the woman desperately loved by the judge Samson, one of the most famous Nazirites known for his extraordinary strength. Delilah is corrupted by the lords of the Philistines to discover the source of her strength, and after three unsuccessful attempts, she finally gets Samson to tell her that her strength comes from his vow that no razor should pass over her head. While he sleeps, Delilah orders a servant to cut Samson’s hair, thus allowing him to be imprisoned by the Philistines.
