If you’re feeling excessively under the lash of anxiety and worry, faith has an infallible cure. GOD is with you, you are not alone, you just need to understand how to truly feel this great strength that resides deep within everyone.
Anxiety is something almost everyone deals with, of course to varying degrees. There is absolutely no shame in feeling restless or fearful of what the future may hold for us, it is not a sign of weakness, but should be taken as an opportunity to improve ourselves and increase our faith.
Faith, and of course the Holy Scriptures (Bible) help to find ways to calm these fears. Talking to a therapist, practicing meditation, and exercising can also greatly help to make us feel better right away, but in this post we are going to quote some significant passages from the Word that can give us a lot of strength. But in order to bring immediate serenity, we must not just read them hurriedly, but meditate, understand them deeply.
When you are overwhelmed by anxiety, take a deep breath, and read some of these quotes taken from the Word of GOD, the Father of the living who never abandons any of his children, even those who do not “know” him.
Psalm 46:1-2
1 GOD is for us a refuge and a strength, an ever-ready help in trouble.
2 Therefore let us not fear if the earth is troubled, if the mountains are shaken in the midst of the sea
Isaiah 35:4
“Say to those who have an anxious heart, Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.”
Matthew 6, 25-34
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than nourishment, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air: they do not sow, they do not reap, they do not gather into barns, and your heavenly FATHER feeds them. Are not you worth much more than they? 27 And who among you can by his care add a single hour to the length of his life? 28 And why are you so anxious about dressing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 yet I tell you that not even Solomon, with all his glory, was clothed like one of them. 30 Now if GOD clothes in this way the grass of the fields which is today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not do much more for you, O people of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, “What shall we eat? What shall we drink? What shall we clothe ourselves with? “32 For it is those who do not believe who seek all these things; but your heavenly FATHER knows that you need all these things. 33 Seek first the kingdom and the righteousness of GOD, and all these things will be given to you in addition. 34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. It is enough for each day to have its own affliction.
Psalm 94:19
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”
1 Peter 5, 5-8
5 Likewise, you young people, be submissive to your elders. Put on humility toward one another, for GOD resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty Hand of GOD, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your cares on Him, for He cares for you. 8 Be temperate, be vigilant. Your enemy, the devil, like a roaring lion goes about, seeking whom he may devour.
Psalm 55:22
22 Cast on the LORD your distress, and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to falter.
Proverbs 3:1-8
1 My son, do not forget my teaching, and let your heart keep my commandments, 2 For they will add to you long days, years of life and peace. 3 Kindness and truth shall not forsake you; tie them around your neck, write them on the table of your heart. 4 You will find grace and understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight. 7 Do not think yourself clever in your own eyes, fear the LORD and withdraw from evil; 8 this will be healing for your nerves and a refreshment for your bones.
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every need set forth your requests to GOD, with prayers, supplications, and thanksgiving; 7 and the peace of GOD, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus.
Proverbs 16:3
3 Entrust your activities to the ETERNAL, and your plans will succeed.
Psalm 37, 1-9
1 Do not grieve because of the wicked; do not bring envy to those who work wickedly. 2 For they will soon be mowed down like hay and wither like green grass. 3 Trust in the ETERNAL and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4 Take your delight in the ETERNAL and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Put your lot back into the ETERNAL, trust in Him, and He will work. 6 He will make your righteousness shine like the light, and your uprightness like the midday. 7 Be silent before the ETERNAL and wait for him; do not grieve over him who prospers in his undertakings, over the man who follows his evil designs. 8 Cease from wrath and leave your indignation; do not grieve; that would lead you also to do evil. 9 For the wicked will be exterminated, but those who hope in the ETERNAL will possess the earth.
Romans 8:38-39
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.”
1 Corinthians 7:32
“I want you to be free from anxieties.”
