Book of Daniel

The Book of Daniel is Text of the Bible with setting in the 6th century BC that can be considered an account of the activities and visions of the prophet Daniel, a noble Jew exiled to Babylon.

The Hebrew Bible includes Daniel in the Ketuvim (writings), while the Christian biblical canons group the work with the Major Prophets. It is divided into two parts: a set of six court stories in chapters 1-6, written mostly in Aramaic, and four apocalyptic visions in chapters 7-12, written mostly in Hebrew. The Books of the Deuterocanonical canon contain three additional sections, the Prayer of Azariah and the Song of the Three Young Saints, Susanna, and Bel and the Dragon. The book has a profound influence, from the Dead Sea Scrolls community and the authors of the canonical gospels and the Book of Revelation, and continues to have influence in today’s world.
