Psalm 26

א 1 Of David. Judge me, Oh LORD, for I have walked with sincerity,
and I trusted in the LORD; I shall not falter.

א Vindicate me, LORD, for I have led a blameless life;
I have trusted in the LORD and have not faltered.

2 ב Test me, Oh LORD, and try me; refine my reins and my heart.
2 ב Test me, LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind;

3 ג For Your kindness is before my eyes, and I walked in Your truth.
3 ג for I have always been mindful of Your unfailing love and have lived in reliance on your faithfulness.

4 ד I did not sit with dishonest men, neither did I go with hypocrites.
4 ד I do not sit with the deceitful, nor do I associate with hypocrites.

5 ה I hated the congregation of the evildoers, and I did not sit with the wicked.
ה I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked.

6 ו I washed my hands with cleanliness, and I encompassed Your altar, Oh Lord.
ו I wash my hands in innocence, and go about your altar, LORD,

7 ז To proclaim thanksgiving with a loud voice and to recite all Your wonders.
ז proclaiming aloud Your praise and telling of all Your wonderful deeds.

8 ח Oh LORD, I love the dwelling of Your House and the place of the residence of Your Glory.
8 ח LORD, I love the house where You live, the place where Your glory dwells.

9 ט Gather not my soul with sinners nor my life with men of blood[2],
ט Do not take away my soul along with sinners, my life with those who are bloodthirsty,

10 י in whose hands are plots and whose right hand is full of bribery.
10 י in whose hands are wicked schemes, whose right hands are full of bribes.

I lead a blameless life; deliver me and be merciful to me.

My foot stood on a straight path; I will bless the LORD in assemblies.
My feet stand on level ground; in the great congregation I will praise the LORD.

ASH Commentary:

Psalm 26 is simply titled, a Psalm of David. It shares themes with many other Psalms, but despite the danger of evil associates, David remained confident that he would not slip, and would securely stand in an even place.
