Twisting and clawing, I had to struggle to get out of the box I’d slept in, as soon I was out of my bunk I made sure that the backpack was safe. I took off the waterproof cover that protected it, it was soaked, as was my tent. The water had covered everything, and I was aware that in addition to the time needed to disassemble it, I would have to wait for it to dry out in order to prevent damage caused by humidity once it had been stored inside the backpack. It was the first and last time I slept in tent, too much waste of time and energy. During my stops, at sunset when I arrived at my destination after so much road and vicissitudes, the last thing I needed was to engage in any further activity other than rest.
I got back on the road just before 9 a.m., my destination was the Convent of the Holy Trinity of Sepino, a 16th century building by Bartolomeo Di Capua and one of the most important monasteries in Molise. It was built to provide accommodation for those who wanted to train culturally and spiritually to become clergymen, and today it has become a monastery. It had been the day before the caring Don Gianni who had given me the number of someone named Mr. Umberto who ran this old convent as a volunteer, sure I would have found people willing to host pilgrims.
